The Allegheny National Forest is Pennsylvania’s Only National Forest. The Allegheny was founded in 1923 in order to protect the watersheds – however it is primarily managed for logging and drilling. As you can see on the map below, the Allegheny is primarily managed for clearcut logging (red areas):

Unfortunately the Allegheny is under renewed attack with the US Forest Service ramping up efforts to clearcut our national forests. Current projects cal for thousands of acres of clearcutting – including in areas managed for old growth habitat.

This is why we need to act now to protect this forest. It will take the collective action of people to defend this important place.
